After claiming the gold medal at Skate America, her first Grand Prix event last season, she placed second at Trophée Eric Bompard. But after that, things started going steadily downhill for the talented young skater. The 2008 Grand Prix Final was a disaster for Meissner; she fell on three jumps and wound up in a distant last place. The writing was on the wall.
Following her disappointing seventh-place finish at the 2008 U.S. National Championships Meissner knew it was time.

Dubreuil, now 33, and Lauzon, 32, are best remembered for their romantic routines that helped them win two silver medals at world figure skating championships.
And they've always had a flair for the dramatic, with lives and adventures and crazy incidents that read like soap operas (losing costumes and skates, falling ill at the wrong time, having to withdraw from the Turin Olympics after a spectacular accident in a final rotational lift, making a comeback at a world championship in their home country.)
They will marry on Aug. 23 in Montreal. They are hoping for more romance and less drama.

Kostner has already established herself as the greatest figure skater in Italian history. Among her many firsts are the first to win a medal at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships, the first to win a silver medal at Worlds, the first to win Europeans, the first to win a Grand Prix event, and the first to medal at the ISU Grand Prix Final.Full article here.
