Kimmie Meissner Back on Track

Coral Springs, Florida, located some 20 miles northwest of Ft. Lauderdale, is the place Kimmie Meissner now calls her “home-away-from-home.” In early February the Bel Air, Md. native relocated to the sunny south to work with renowned coach Richard Callaghan and his talented team.

After claiming the gold medal at Skate America, her first Grand Prix event last season, she placed second at Trophée Eric Bompard. But after that, things started going steadily downhill for the talented young skater. The 2008 Grand Prix Final was a disaster for Meissner; she fell on three jumps and wound up in a distant last place. The writing was on the wall.

Dubreuil & Lauzon getting married

After 11 years of getting to know one another, one of Canada's best-loved ice dancing teams, Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon, are getting married.

Dubreuil, now 33, and Lauzon, 32, are best remembered for their romantic routines that helped them win two silver medals at world figure skating championships.

And they've always had a flair for the dramatic, with lives and adventures and crazy incidents that read like soap operas (losing costumes and skates, falling ill at the wrong time, having to withdraw from the Turin Olympics after a spectacular accident in a final rotational lift, making a comeback at a world championship in their home country.)

They will marry on Aug. 23 in Montreal. They are hoping for more romance and less drama.

Carolina Kostner on the Top

At the 2008 World Figure Skating Championships, Italy's Carolina Kostner added a silver medal to the bronze that she won in Moscow in 2005, the last time the World Championships were held in Europe. In 2010, however, she is looking forward to the chance to add a gold in her native land in the city of Torino.

Kostner has already established herself as the greatest figure skater in Italian history. Among her many firsts are the first to win a medal at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships, the first to win a silver medal at Worlds, the first to win Europeans, the first to win a Grand Prix event, and the first to medal at the ISU Grand Prix Final.
